Zeolites

Zeolites might have the appearance of regular rocks, but don’t let that fool you. These little crystalline substances are made up mainly of aluminum, silicon, and oxygen. They are a form of volcanic dust that contains countless health benefits and uses.

While they are naturally occurring around the world, zeolites can mainly be found in China, The United States, and Turkey. Zeolites also are able to be produced by humans. In fact, the first documented zeolites were created by Swedish mineralogist Axel Fredrik Cronstedt in 1756. He made the discovery when he rapidly heated a stilbite (a form of prismatic crystal), and large amounts of steam from water that had been adsorbed by the material were produced. The material the stilbite turned into was coined “zeolite”, which means “boiled stone” in Greek.

There are 253 unique types of zeolite, and over 40 are naturally occurring. Now, that doesn’t mean the human produced zeolites are artificial, they are naturally produced when certain types of crystal are boiled. Since that often is able to happen on its own in nature, scientists are merely replicating that effect in order to speed up zeolite production.

They are available at a low cost due to their wide production, and many countries use them as a means to purify their water supplies. Other practical applications of zeolites include use as drying agents in detergents, nuclear waste processing agents, and they can even be used for solar heat storage.

The benefits of zeolites don’t stop there. They are able to help people stay healthy because they can be used for air purification, pet litter clumping, and ammonia absorption. They have also been shown to help with a wide range of health issues when used as a dietary supplement. Zeolites can be used to help with diarrhea, balance PH, and reduce herpes flare ups. They can also be used in the treatment of goiters and in easing bloatedness.

Not only that, but if you’re feeling hungover, zeolites might be just what you need. They help release toxins from the body, which include alcohol and drugs. Due to their detoxifying nature, they can have you feeling back to normal in no time.

If you’re feeling curious about zeolites, they’re worth a try.
