Shenkar and the Phoenix Group marked the opening shot of the strategic collaboration with the Department of Fashion Design graduates’ annual fashion show held at Expo Tel Aviv and produced by Motty Reif.
The annual Shenkar fashion show is a highly anticipated event in the fashion industry, both in Israel and internationally. Held at the end of each academic year, the show is the culmination of four years of intensive study and creative development for the fashion design students. It provides a platform for graduates to present their final collections to a diverse audience, including fashion industry leaders, media, and the general public.
Each collection showcased during the event is a reflection of the student’s individual style and the skills they’ve honed over their time at Shenkar. The process involves rigorous preparation, from conceptualization and design to production and presentation. The show not only highlights the creative talents of the students but also their ability to execute and present their visions professionally.
The Shenkar fashion show is renowned for its innovation and creativity, often pushing the boundaries of conventional fashion. Graduates who have participated in this show have gone on to achieve significant success in the global fashion industry, making it a crucial stepping stone for aspiring designers.
This year’s show, despite the challenging backdrop of political tension and conflict, demonstrated the resilience and dedication of the graduates. Their collections not only showcased their design prowess but also their ability to persevere and create under difficult circumstances, making this year’s event particularly memorable. The “final project” shown in this event is a tremendous opportunity for graduates to reveal their talent to industry professionals who faithfully attend the exhibitions. These young graduates are about to enter the “real” market, so the challenge is to stand out in a sea of talent. The joint runway show serves as an initial test of the young designers’ charisma and ability to make an impression. This year, the test was particularly challenging given the difficult situation in Israel, with the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the looming threat of further unrest.
As part of the fashion show, one of the flagship events of the fashion field in Israel, from which the new generation of the most talented fashion designers emerge, a Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Etty and Gabi Rotter, Chairman of the Castro-hoodies group, owners of the Castro Group and Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, for adopting and supporting the fashion department for 25 years.
The Phoenix Group and Shenkar recently announced the launch of strategic cooperation, the first of its kind in Israel, within the framework of which a new and additional campus will be established for Shankar in a project called “Tomorrow’s 1000”, which will be built at the “Elef” (1000) complex, Rishon LeZion.
