SUN WOO CHANG was born in Seoul, South Korea. Her first time designing clothes dates back to when she was in elementary school and needed a gift for someone so she decided to make a clothing item herself. This kickstarted her realization of her love of fashion and designing one-of-a-kind pieces, which later inspired her to go to college at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design to study Fashion Design and Marketing in London.
She has lived in South Korea, London, and Canada. Because of this, she has struggled with feeling one with her environment. When she was in London she saw people carrying pop-up tents with them and moving. This resonated with her and became the concept for her collection “In Between”.
The portable and collapsible garments she created symbolized the feelings of disconnect and lack of belonging she felt as a result of constantly moving.
